With today’s amazing artificial intelligence tools in every photo editor, it’s alway tempting for a photographer to stretch the limits of traditional practice. This is a case in point. The light was poor in the café, and I was further from my subjects than I like to be. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have shot these photos. Using the new tools, however, I was able obtain an acceptable result—although not an inspired one. And it required a lot of extra work, leading me to ask whether it was worth the effort.
