On Day One, a section of gas line was replaced on the north side of Main Street; on Day Two, a similar section was replaced on the south side. I learned from my second talk with the foreman that the "gas lines" were actually gas mains. As he explained to me earlier, they had been compromised by recent work on water mains buried below them. In these photos, we see Day Two near its end (with the sun low in the sky). The excavation, having been backfilled, was now being tamped down, and its edges cut clean before concrete is poured to close it. See also my earlier report, Gas Line.
