Southpoint is a sprawling indoor-outdoor shopping mall endowed with a "street" theme. The shop facades are designed to give the impression of downtown Durham streets. I was struck by the artistry of these facades. I could well have titled this project, "Facades as Art." Outdoors, it was too hot and bright for picture-taking, but indoors, conditions were perfect, so on impulse, I took these photos. The last one was snapped in a furniture store where we took refuge momentarily from the heat, and has nothing to do with the theme of this project.
