Tree and shrub blossoms, mostly white or off-white, are in profusion right now, but the small, colorful, spring flowers are nearly gone, while their summer replacements have yet to arrive. So, I find myself looking to "captive" flowers in planters or nurseries for dramatic photos.
The bright flowers, shown here, were growing in planters and hanging baskets in front of retail shops on Main Street. They are showboats, of course, but that is their purpose, to brighten up the shopping area of downtown Concord, Massachusetts.
I had felt lucky to find these—fresh and photogenic—until the drive home. Only then, did we pass a nursery with a gazillion, gorgeous, hanging flower baskets on display. It was too late to stop, but another time...
