There were fewer costumes this year, continuing a trend from last year, but the turnout on this fine day was nothing short of impressive. Waltham Common was thronged with eager visitors from both near and far. The annual Steampunk Festival had morphed into a joyous celebration of Spring.
Not only were there fewer costumes, but they were less colorful than in past years. Black and earth tones seemed to predominate. That supported my decision to record this year’s event in my usual black-and-white.
I had hoped to limit myself to a few representative photos, this year, thereby keeping my demand on viewers’ time and attention respectfully modest. But the palpable excitement of the event got to me. Arriving at 1:00 pm, I feverishly clicked away until 2:00, when the light suddenly turned harsh and forced me to call it quits.
