When I get an itch to take pictures, there’s usually one place to go these days, and that’s Moody Street. Between the pedestrians and the outdoor diners, I find plenty of activity there to scratch that itch—and it’s all close to home. In the coronavirus era, I’m not eager to travel.
As I reported earlier, in response to the coronavirus, Moody Street will remain closed to vehicular traffic during the warm weather, so its many, famously diverse restaurants can serve outdoors.
The photos here are well and truly candid. I made no attempt to engage with the subjects. I’ve learned from experience that people will interact with a photographer when they are relaxed, when they are having a good time, but not when they are under the pressure of daily routine, as many of these people seemed to be.
