This hot day at the Waltham Farmers' Market, I used a moderately wide-angle lens. Such a lens is favored by street photographers. It lets them get close to a subject for an intimate shot, while also capturing some background for context.
The lady with the sunflower dress is a fellow photographer, and hammed it up for me. The two-man band apparently ditched the idea of a tent on this hot day; instead, they set up in a cool spot just inside the parking garage.
I took all my shots quickly that day, not only because it was hot, but also to better capture the spirit of the event, the fun, the whimsy, the swirl of activity. The goal of such photo-taking, after all, is not tedious documentation, but something more elevated, possibly approaching the level of art.
