Usually, I know what lens to use for a given assignment. In this case, I misjudged. I found myself shooting subjects beyond the normal reach of the lens I had put on my camera. But I decided to go ahead, anyway, out of curiosity. I was encouraged by the unusually bright sunlight, which was helping the camera to focus, even at the greater distances.
Later, looking at the images in my editor, I decided they were useable, even if closely cropped. But the look and feel was different, I noticed, from what I get when I'm closer to my subjects. As the photos show, mostly young people were out and about on this Saturday afternoon. When the weather warms up a bit more, the older folks will come out, too, especially now that many of them have been vaccinated.
