Recently, my projects have been populated largely by women—for no other reason than women have been seated near me in the cafés I frequent. Today, however, only men were within shooting distance at a local Panera café and restaurant.
Whether I photograph the whole person or just the head and shoulders—as here—depends on what’s of interest. To capture a colorful persona it’s often necessary to photograph the whole person, with other elements of his or her life in the background. But here, I found only these two heads of interest.
