This photograph reflects the kind of compressed tonality that is wildly popular among street photographers on Instagram. It does not offer the long, delicate tonal range made famous by Ansel Adams. Rather, it goes from pure black to pure white in a few, big steps. That gives it the coarse, minimalist look that is so popular in the works of two London street photographers, Alan Schaller and Mark Fearnley. As of this writing, Alan has 897,000 followers on Instagram, while Mark has 123,000. That is certainly a remarkable tribute to them as artists, and the compelling, minimalist style they have cultivated.
