During the warm months, when the days are long, I take my best pictures in the late afternoon. It is then that the low, slanting sun lights up the world in a golden glow. Light and shadow fill our senses. Backlit portraits become possible, the ultimate magic for many photographers. The photos here were taken in little more than an hour, on a recent March afternoon.
