Woodman’s is a destination for lovers of the famous Essex clams. They are harvested locally, and are either fried or steamed in-shell. The lobsters are caught in the cold waters off the New England coast. (A very old and large lobster is shown in the photo.) My time was short, allowing me to take only a few photos, but enough, I hope, to convey the attraction of this place.
Essex enjoys a storied history as a boatbuilding center. For more about this celebrated, coastal town, see my related photo-stories: Shipyard, Chebacco and Onlookers.
