Since Covid, the costumes have become fewer, simpler and less colorful. Black and earth tones seem to predominate. That’s not to say folks didn't have a good time this year; they did. But inflation has robbed many of the means—and perhaps the incentive—for creating elaborate themed costumes. As a result, this annual Steampunk festival may eventually morph into a simple celebration of spring, a time of rebirth.
