Route 128 is a circumferential highway that arcs around the City of Boston. As a technology incubator, it is often compared to California’s Silicon Valley. In recent years, several dramatic, new office buildings have been built along the highway—all of them in Waltham, at its geographic center.
This photo series is devoted to one such office complex at 480-500 Totten Pond Road in Waltham. (It's one of several such marketed under the Citypoint brand.) These photos were taken on a Sunday when no one was about, at a time when Massachusetts was just beginning to ease its Cover-19 lockdown.
Designed to humanize the workplace, these new office buildings are stunning. They've become an art form in their own right. There's a question on many minds, however: will they continue to be relevant in the post-Covid-19 age?
